"Sharla is an amazing instructor who has an infinite well of patience and knowledge. Her programs offer so much more than just learning how to play the piano. She teaches theory, appreciation, and the "why" of music. On top of that, she builds confidence and helps push young musicians to aspire to their own musical goals. She is simply an amazing instructor who truly embodies the MYC philosophy. We love Teacher
Sharla!" ~Krista Li, MYC Parent (Sunbeams One)
"I would like to recommend to any parent the amazing and musically sound Music for Young Children program, especially under the gentle, kind, focused tutelage of Sharla Quantz. I have a Masters Degree in Elementary Music Education, and of all the programs out there, I consider this by far the most rigorous, well-rounded, carefully structured, fully engaging program for teaching children musical skill and appreciation.
My daughter, under Sharla's guidance for 5 years, progressed from a joyful pull-up wearing three year-old to an independently composing confident eight year-old, ready to challenge the Grade 1 Royal Conservatory Exam. By age 6 she was picking out melodies with her right hand and accurately matching chords in the left. She is by NO MEANS musically gifted - she simply has been given the gift of musical language and is becoming more and more fluent each day. She is currently working through Grade 3 Royal Conservatory pieces, and her MYC roots are consistently evident in her well trained ear, joy in composition and improvisation, and effective self-directed music practice.
My other three children are following in her footsteps to varying degrees, and have also moved easily onto complementary instruments (cello, viola, violin) while maintaining their piano foundations. I am glad to have worked with Sharla for 5 years as we nurtured my daughter's musical growth. Always patient, always ready with a smile, Sharla has led so many children to achieve their personal best in Music for Young Children." Sincerely, Melanie Harmsma (mom of an MYC Grad)
Our two girls both love Teacher Sharla! She makes learning fun and thats what the MYC Program is all about. Sharla is warm, nurturing, innovative and inspires young musicians. She is extremely well organized and manages to create an environment for learning thats also fun. Our girls both went through the whole program with Sharla. They each finished with their grade 1 theory and grade 1 piano. They wrote their own compositions and 10 years later they are still proud of what they accomplished. Sharla helped them develop a love of music that has followed them into adult life. Thanks for all you did for our girls Sharla!!
This is our third year of MYC with Teacher Sharla. My 7 yr old son and I love the class! The MYC program is innovative and fun. Teacher Sharla makes it fun and exciting to learn (even music theory is fun)!
Highly recommend Teacher Sharla and the MYC program.
I am an adult student returning to lessons and am so delighted with finding Sharla to teach me. She is so positive and encouraging, and has provided different styles of teaching that I a m finding interesting and useful! Sharla
teaches a lot of children and adults and her experience has made learning so fun! Try her out!!!
We love the Music for Young Children program with Teacher Sharla. She is amazing, and makes the
lesson engaging and fun for the kids. My son has been taking her lessons since he was 4, and Teacher Sharla is the reason we have continued on. She is an excellent teacher - professional, patient, accommodating, and funny. She also delivers lessons virtually, and has taken extra precautions this season for COVID for in class learners. Overall -
amazing teacher. Highly recommend!

We have been attending classes with Teacher Sharla now for 2 years with our 6 year old. This fall we will
also be starting classes with our other daughter who will be turning 4. Sharla is fantastic with kids and adults alike.
The structure provided is fantastic and was a good stepping stone for our daughter before she started school.
Pianio lessons have also fed into other literacy and numeracy skills for Mya. I highly recommend the in person
lessons as it has really kept our kid engaged and interested far more than doing the lessons online. However, Teach
Sharla has become very flexible in her lesson delivery providing lessons in person, live on line via zoom and
recorded lessons for those times you might miss when travelling
